Single Implant Dentistry
54 year old male broke his front tooth to gumline and was un-restorable. Implant was placed and after 3 months of healing the final crown was cemented
Single Implant – “Tooth in a Day”
“Tooth in a Day” – This 50 year old patient broke his front tooth to the gumline and the tooth was not restorable. It was important for the patient, and our dental office, to not to be without his front tooth for even one day. With dental implant technology currently, we are able to extract a tooth, and immediately place an implant and its cosmetic crown in one day so the patient does not need to wear a removable denture. After 3 months of healing, a permanent porcelain crown can be cemented into an implant and matched well with his adjacent natural teeth.
“Tooth in a Day” – Second Example
Here is another example of “Tooth in a Day.” Previously in dentistry, we would not have been able to place a crown over an implant on the same day but with today’s implant technology, in most cases for front teeth, we are able to extract the tooth, place a dental implant, and have the patient leave our office with a temporary front tooth. This 76 year old patient fractured his front tooth and tooth was deemed not restorable. We removed the remaining root and placed an implant and temporary crown on the same visit. After 3 months of healing, the temporary crown was replaced with a permanent porcelain crown.
This patient presented with a large infection on a lower right molar as pictured on the x-ray “Before- Infection.” The infection spread from the gums to the bone, and over many years, most of the bone supporting the tooth was lost. With the foundation for the tooth resorbed, the tooth was not saveable and was extracted. At the same visit, a bone graft was placed into the site and after 4 months, bone was restored and a dental implant placed.

Final Crown
This patient fractured his anterior tooth after a slip and fall accident. It fractured at the gumline and was unrestorable. We extracted the root and placed a single implant. On the same day we made this patient a temporary crown for cosmetic reasons. After several months we switched the temporary with a permanent implant crown that blended well with the surrounding teeth.
